Stay Safe this 4th of July at the Lake of the Ozarks

Nowhere else does the Fourth of July quite like the Lake of the Ozarks! Not only do we have an ample amount of fireworks at the lake, but watching them from the water provides a front row seat to the show. However, our number one priority for boating on the fourth is safety! With Summerset Boat Lifts safety tips, you can have a fun Fourth while boating safely!

Boating Safety Tips

Holidays at the lake mean an increased amount of boat traffic on the water. With our boat safety tips, you can help to avoid the boating hazards this holiday weekend.

1. Designate a Captain: We understand that part of the holiday fun includes drinking for some people. Before departing for the day, make sure to designate a sober driver that can safely drive during your holiday celebrations. Don’t forget—the law for drinking and boating is the same as the law for drinking and driving in Missouri. The operator’s blood alcohol content should never be over .08%!

2. Bring Life Jackets: While boarding the boat before your holiday festivities, make sure you have enough life jackets for everyone on board (and ones that fit every passenger). Kids should always be wearing their life jackets while boating!

3. Don’t Speed: Increased traffic on the lake means the possibility for a boating accident increases. One way to help prevent an accident is to watch your vessel’s speed. Operating at a manageable speed decreases the risk of an accident and allows for more reaction time if something does happen.

4. Stay Alert: Unfortunately, no matter how safe you are while boating, you can’t control how safe other boats are being. Help prevent yourself from an accident by staying alert and being aware of all other vessels in the area around you.

5. Check the Weather: The lake is no stranger to storms. The forecast can change without much warning, so make sure to check the weather right before you go out on the boat. Knowledge of that day’s weather can help prevent surprise weather that may make it harder to operate on the lake.

6. Swimming and Tubing/Skiing: Summers at the lake can get hot! A popular way to cool down is to jump in the water. With the increased number of boats on the holiday weekend, it’s important to practice safe swimming and towing practices. While swimming, make sure to find a calm cove with minimum boaters where anchoring is legal. If towing a tuber or skier behind the boat, make sure to have a spotter to keep watch of the skier/tuber and an orange or red flag to display when the towed person is in the water.

Gift Ideas the Boat Loving Dad

Father's Day is this Sunday -- June 16th and it's time to be thinking about what you're going to gift to that special father figure in your life. If your Dad is a boat enthusiast, what better gift than something that goes along with his passion? Our boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks has some boat related gift ideas your Dad may love!

Towable

Tubes, skiis, and wakeboards are all popular towable gifts. If the person on your list loves spending time out on the water, you can't go wrong with a new towable!

Floaties

You and your crew usually use floaties around your dock and boat all summer long. No matter if you're coving out or swimming by your dock, a float can help make it more enjoyable (and easier).

Dock Locker

If someone on your list loves hanging out on the dock, they are probably in need of a dock locker. This is a great place to store boating and swimming items and help protect them from getting misplaced.

Remote Control Boat Lift

Our Lake of the Ozarks boat lift remotes makes controlling your lift from a distance a breeze. Contact us today about installing one!

Dry Bag

Any boat lover will likely use a dry bag or case. It's a watertight case that helps keep your belongings dry. This is a huge protector for phones - which are a common item to be dropped in the water and ruined!

Boating Gear

Buoys, towels, and hats are all popular gift items this time of year. A personalized buoy can give your boat a touch of your personality or even help you show off your favorite sports team. The boat lover will use these boating gear gifts on a regular basis this summer!

Day on the Water

While a tangible gift is always a great gift idea, most Dads just want to spend time with their families. And what better way than doing what they love? Plan a fun day on the boat with dad this Father's Day! Another fun gift idea is to go eat at Dad's favorite restaurant on the water!

Summerset Boat Lifts wants to wish all the Dads out there a Happy Father's Day! Treat Dad to a fun day out on the boat and give him the chance to enjoy his new boat related gift! Don't forget, if you run into a boat lift issue, the best boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks is here for you! Reasons to Lift Your PWC This Summer

A personal watercraft is a popular summer toy. From taking a solo cruise down the lake to jumping waves, it's a fun addition to any watercraft lineup. Just like your boat, you want to protect your PWC this summer. The best way to do that is to have a PWC lift at the Lake of the Ozarks. Here at Summerset Boat Lifts, we have a ton of options to protect any size vessel -- PWCs included! Check out the reasons you should lift your PWC below.

At Summerset Boat Lifts, we offer a variety of PWC lifts to meet your needs. For a single PWC, we offer a sidemount and a front-mount option. We also offer a double place style for those with more than one PWC that needs lifted.

Sidemount PWC Lift

The Galva-Hoist sidemount mechanical lift is available for the homeowner with property line issues. It's a space-saver in the fact that the footprint on the dock is only 5 1/2 feet instead of 11 feet. The capacity for this PWC lift is 920 lbs.

Single Place PWC Lift

The flagship of our PWC line, the poly tank front-mount unit is quite capable of withstanding any water conditions. The single-tank, by design, will hold your machine higher out of the water than a two-tank system would. This means you WILL have dry feet when you want to maintain or cover your watercraft, GUARANTEED!

Double Place PWC Lift

Cruising around the Lake is always more fun with a friend! If you have more than one PWC to lift, this is the way to go! The double-place personal watercraft lift is an extension of the ever-popular single tank design. For considerable price savings over purchasing two singles, the double is the perfect solution. The double is also available with a full deck.

Our boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks knows how important a lift is to keep your PWC in good condition this summer. If you have a PWC that's not lifted yet, now's the time to find the perfect boat lift for sale at the Lake of the Ozarks. We look forward to protecting your water toys this summer!
