5 Reasons You Need a Boat Lift at the Lake of the Ozarks

Boat lifts are designed to both protect your boat and make your life easier. If you're not convinced you need a boat lift yet, check out these 5 reasons to invest in a lift from your premier boat lift dealer at the Lake of the Ozarks.

1. To Protect Your Boat From the Rough Summer Waters.

The Lake of the Ozarks has seen some pretty rough waters during the summer months when the boat traffic is high. A boat lift protects your boat from these rough waters by keeping it in place and away from the edges of your dock. Without a lift, your boat could be bouncing around in the slip, ramming into the dock and could even come loose and drift away.

2. To Reduce the Amount of Boat Maintenance Needed.

When your boat sits in water for long periods of time, algae can begin to build up on the bottom. Not only does this cause the need to clean your boat more often, but it can present other maintenance issues such as bottom painting. By storing your boat up out of the water, you can decrease the amount of maintenance your boat needs and also keep it from being damaged by floating debris, leading to repair costs.

3. To Prevent the Likelihood of Your Boat Sinking.

One major issue that we see occasionally on the Lake of the Ozarks is boats sinking. Most boats that sink, do so at their dock. From a dead battery to a failed bilge pump, it doesn't take something major like a boating accident to make a boat sink. A Lake of the Ozarks boat lift can give you peace of mind that your boat is protected

4. To Provide Easy Storage Throughout the Winter.

You can store you boat on your lift all year round. During the winter months, you don't have to find some dry storage place to keep your boat protected from the winter weather. The cost of renting a storage space can also be quite the expense.

5. To Make Launching Your Boat Easier.

When you store your boat on a lift rather than dry land, you decrease the amount of time needed to launch your boat. There's no more driving to the nearest launch site, getting your boat off the trailer and into the water and then finding a place to go park the trailer. You simply walk out to your dock, lower the lift and your boat is all ready to go!

Choosing Your Boat Type Based on Activity Style

Depending on what activities you enjoy on the water, there are different boat types that would work better for you. Today’s blog from Summerset Boat Lifts discusses a few of the most popular water activities at the Lake of the Ozarks, and what boats work best for each.

Cruising

The Lake of the Ozarks is a great family vacation destination. People of all ages can have a great time just cruising around the lake. There’s something special about being on a boat during a summer at the Lake. Stop off at one of the many local waterfront bars to grab a bite to eat and a cold drink! If your favorite lake activity is simply cruising on the water, enjoying the wind in your face and the sun overhead, a pontoon, tritoon or deck boat are the best options for you. These are great options that will hold the entire family!

Watersports

While some pontoons and tritoons can be used for tubing and waterskiing, a deck boat or a ski boat may be a better option. If you're wanting to go really fast, a speed boat is what you want! These all have the power to pull anything from your inflatables to someone waterskiing or wakeboarding. Personal watercraft also offer plenty of enjoyment, whether you’re alone or with others. Some personal watercraft even have enough power to pull inflatables too! If you’re into big boats and racing, there are 2 big annual summer events that you can either participate in or watch from the comfort of your own boat.

Fishing

If something a little less adrenaline rushing is more your style, the Lake of the Ozarks is a great place for fishing. In our waters, you will find crappie, bass, bluegill, spoonbill, catfish, walleye, and more! The fishing conditions are great almost year round. There are fishing boats designed specifically for this activity. From aluminum fishing boats to bass boats, you'll be able to find one to fit your needs.
