Holiday Gift Guide for the Boat Lover in your Life

The holiday season is here and that means it's time to start thinking about gifts for those special people in your life. Sometimes it can be difficult to think of a great gift idea that will actually be used but if there is a boat lover in your life, we've got a complete list of items they would love to unwrap this holiday season! Our Lake of the Ozarks boat lift company is here to make your holiday gift giving a bit easier this year!

Boating Necessities

There are a ton of boating items that anyone who spends time out on the water needs. From koozies to towels to bumpers to coolers -- consider items the boat lover doesn't have or could use an upgrade of. These make great gift items that will actually be used when the boating season rolls around!

Water Floaties

Most people who love boating also enjoy spending time in the water. A new floatie for the family to splash around on is a great option for a gift idea. It can even be an entire family gift since everyone can enjoy it!

Dock Furniture

New patio furniture or lounge chairs for your dock is a gift that will get used this summer! Outdoor furniture gets some wear and tear over time and there's no better time to give the gift of relaxation when the warmer months are here.

Wet Steps

We're a Wet Steps dealer and they are the best ladder on the market. The powdered coat keeps the ladder protected and ready to withstand anything the weather or water throws at it. The stair-like build makes it easy for all ages to get in and out of the water safely. If you spend a lot of time around your dock, it's a great gift idea!

Dock Storage

Hauling your boating gear from the house to the dock day after day can get to be a pain. Keep those dock items on the dock with a dock storage container. Whether an upright or chest-style box, you're sure to keep your items secure, dry, and in one place.

Water Accessories

Kayaks and stand up paddleboards are all the rage as more and more people are spending summertime months outside. If you've been dreaming of a fun way to get around your cove, consider giving the gift of adventure for those on your list!

Now's the perfect time to start shopping around for that boat lover in your life. If that special someone is getting a new boat this winter, make sure they have the best boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks here to protect that new boat. Give Summerset Boat Lifts a call today to schedule your lift install in time to protect that new boat this winter!

Top Reasons to Invest in a Dock De-Icer

As we near winter, the temps will continue dropping. That means we'll have freezing temperatures before too long. Our boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks knows how dangerous freezing temps can be for your boat, dock, and lift this winter and we're here to help. We are proud to carry Kasco de-icers to help protect your investments during the cold winter months. Check out a few of the reasons why you should invest in a dock de-icer at the Lake of the Ozarks today!

What does a De-Icer Do?

A dock de-icer sits in the water and pumps warm water from below the surface around your dock moving. This warmer water movement helps prevent ice from forming near your dock. Ice can cause all sorts of issues for docks, boats, and lifts, especially in the winter months when many issues go unnoticed.

REASON #1: Reduce the Risk of Structural Damage

Freezing water can wreak havoc on the structure of your dock. From twisting the bracing to applying so much pressure a vital piece gives way, it's best to keep ice away from your dock.

REASON #2:  Keep Dock in Place

Ice forming against the side of your dock can lead to strain on the free movement a dock is supposed to have. If this free movement is limited, it can potentially put pressure on your dock. This pressure can eventually cause structural damage or cause a dock line to snap, leaving your dock partially unsecured on the water.

REASON #3: Avoid Tub Puncture

Tub floats keep your dock float. Ice forming next to a tub can actually lead to cracking or puncturing of the plastic or rubber surface. These tubs are expensive to replace and could actually lead to further damage. A damaged tub can cause structural damage and potentially lead your dock to sink down into the water.

REASON #4: Good for Wildlife

De-icers help oxygenate the water. This is important for keeping many water species healthy during the winter months. When an entire cove or other body of water is completely frozen, it can be very hard on the wildlife under the ice and a de-icer can make your water a healthier ecosystem.

What are you waiting for? Now's the time to start preparing your summer toys for the winter weather that will soon be upon us. Contact the best boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks today to order your Kasco de-icer to protect your boat, lift, and dock all winter long!

Perks of Storing Your Boat on a Lift This Winter

We hate to even talk about winter with the weather being unseasonably warm this week but we know the nice weather won't last forever. The cold temps and winter weather will be here before we know it. Our boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks knows it's important to have a plan together on how you are going to store your boat in the winter months. Leaving your boat up on its lift is a great option for the off-season. Learn why below:

Convenient Storage

When you store your boat right there on your dock, it's more convenient to prepare it for winterization. It's also in place and ready to go come spring when the first few nice days hit!

No Additional Expense

You have already purchased your dock and lift so storing it on-site has no additional storage expense for the winter months. Renting a storage unit or having it stored on land can add to your monthly budget during the months your boat is not even being used.

Avoid the Hassle of Trailering

Trailer your boat can be an inconvenience. First, you have to have a boat trailer that fits your boat if you don't already have one. Secondly, you have to have somewhere to park the boat and trailer once you get it off the water. You also have to coordinate getting someone to drive your boat and someone to drive a trailer to meet at the boat ramp. It can be a hassle to get the logistics worked out when trailering your boat during the winter months.

Easy to Keep an Eye On

If you live at the Lake of the Ozarks full time, you can easily check on your boat on a daily basis. In most cases, you can just look out the window and see if your boat and lift all look okay during the cold winter months.

Covered Storage

Most docks are covered which means your boat will be protected from many elements this winter when stored up on your lift. A great deal of damage can take place from the weight of snow or ice on top of your boat when it is not stored in a covered location.

Now that you know some of the perks of leaving your boat on its lift, you're ready to make your winter storage plans. As the best boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks, we know how important it is to keep your boat safe and protected all year long, especially in the winter months when you likely don't have a constant eye on it. If you don't have a lift for your boat yet, give us a call today to line up the right boat lift for your unique needs!
