Lifts for Boats Large and Small

No matter the size of your boat, Summerset Boat Lifts can lift it! We are proud to offer the Galva-Hoist line of floating boat lifts, which provide quality and value. From personal watercraft lifts to custom 38,000+ lb lifts, the Galva-Hoist has your Lake of the Ozarks boat lift needs covered. Keep reading to learn more about the lifts we can offer you at Summerset Boat Lifts!

Personal Watercraft Lifts

Our personal watercraft lifts come in 3 styles: side-mount, single front-mount and double front-mount. The side mount PWC lift is ideal for those looking to save space, as the footprint on the dock is only 5 1/2 feet instead of 11 feet. The flagship of our PWC line, the poly tank front-mount unit is quite capable of withstanding any water conditions. The single-tank by design will hold your watercraft higher out of the water than a double-tank would. The double is an extension of our popular single tank design.

4,000 & 6,000 LB Lifts

The 6,500 lb lift is an ideal capacity for almost every tritoon on the Lake of the Ozarks. the mechanism and structure of the lift are well-suited for the rough waters that our lake has to offer during the busy summer months. From a 24 foot deck boat to a 27 foot tritoon with a 300 hp outboard, this is the boat lift for your needs.

8,000 & 10,000 LB Lifts

Our 8,000 lb boat lifts are unique to the industry in that the structure has c-channel on the bottom of the tanks, which allows the weight of the boat to be distributed across many more points than the competition. The 10,000 lb lift utilizes the same structure and mechanism, giving you the opportunity to grow into a bigger boat utilizing the same lift later on.

12,000 - 17,000 LB Lifts

Our 12,000 lb lift is a heavy-duty 6-arm mechanism designed for the rough waters of the Lake of the Ozarks. Our 14,000 lb lift is our first 3-tank system, and builds on the foundation of our 12,000 lb lift. The 17,000 lb lift caps off the trio of 6-arm mechanisms available. It is perfectly capable of lifting many of the 34 to 35 foot day cruisers.

20,000 LB & Bigger Lifts

Suited for many 37-41 foot day cruisers, the 20,000 lb lift is an 8-arm mechanism that features four structures that create a rigid box to dissipate the weight of the boat over many points on the lift and dock. The 24,000 lb lift is available in an 8-arm or 10-arm mechanism. The four tank system offers a superb weight to width ratio, offering great stability for your boat. Larger lifts can be custom built just for you! Your exquisite taste in big boats demands the best in boat lifts.

Our new boat lift sales at the Lake of the Ozarks is complimented by used boat lifts, as well as the servicing of all types of lifts. Whether you're in need of a boat lift or boat lift repairs at the Lake of the Ozarks, Summerset Boat Lifts is here for you! Give us a call at 573-348-5073.

The Dangers of Carbon Monoxide While Boating

Did you know that carbon monoxide poses a risk for boaters? The most common source of carbon monoxide is a gasoline-powered engine, which is found on the majority of recreational motor boats. Keep reading to learn about the dangers of carbon monoxide and how to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning while boating.

What is Carbon Monoxide?

Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas that is essentially undetectable by the human senses. This gas is produced when an engine using a carbon-based fuel is running. Carbon monoxide can be very dangerous as it cannot be seen, smelt or tasted. The gas enters the bloodstream through the lungs. While exposure in a well ventilated area is generally not a problem, brief exposure in a more confined environment can lead to sickness. Prolonged exposure to higher concentrations could even be fatal. Due to the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning mimicking those of seasickness or alcohol intoxication, the poisoning is often overlooked, and those affected don't receive the proper medical attention.

Preventing Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Carbon monoxide poisoning is preventable. Every boater should be aware of the risks associated with carbon monoxide, and how to prevent them. Below are a few tips to help in the prevention of carbon monoxide poisoning while boating:
  • Educate family and friends about carbon monoxide so they are aware of the early poisoning signs.
  • Be sure to maintain fresh air circulation throughout the boat at all times.
  • Keep your vessel maintained to ensure peak engine performance.
  • Properly install and maintain all fuel-burning engines and appliances.
  • Schedule regular engine and exhaust system maintenance inspections by experienced and trained technicians.
  • Be aware of areas where carbon monoxide could likely accumulate, such as inadequately ventilated canvas enclosures and engine compartments.
  • When tied to a dock, ensure your exhaust ports are not blocked. This can force exhaust, filled with carbon monoxide, back into the boat.
  • Never ride or hang on a swim platform where gases accumulate when the engine is running.
  • Be aware that traveling at slow speeds or idling in the water can cause carbon monoxide to build up in a boat’s cabin, cockpit, bridge and aft deck, or even in an open area.
  • Exhaust from another vessel that is docked, beached or anchored alongside your boat can emit poisonous carbon monoxide gas into the cabin and cockpit of your boat.
  • If carbon monoxide is suspected, open all windows, hatches and ports to increase ventilation.
  • Install and maintain a carbon monoxide detector on board your boat.

Summerset Boat Lifts hopes you have safe boating experiences at the Lake of the Ozarks. In addition to our boat lift services at the Lake of the Ozarks, we strive to educate boaters on safety. The Lake of the Ozarks is rated one of the best recreational lakes in the country, and we want everyone to be able to enjoy it safely. Happy Boating!

Labor Day Weekend on the Water

The last big boating weekend of the season is upon us! For some, Labor Day Weekend is the last chance to take the boat out with the family before winter sets in. Your Lake of the Ozarks boat lift company wants you to have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend out on the Lake of the Ozarks.

Labor Day Weekend Safety Tips

With all those boats out on the water to close out the season, it's important you use caution. Keep these tips in mind while you're cruising around the lake this weekend:

  1. Make sure you designate a driver! While it's a holiday weekend and we know you want to have fun, make sure your captain is sober. Just like with cars, drinking and driving don't mix.
  2. Be sure to have enough life jackets on board for every passenger, and make sure that they are accessible. Children need to be wearing their life jackets at all times while aboard.
  3. Don't speed. This rule is especially important when there's a lot of traffic on the water. Operating at a safe speed will help you avoid a boating accident.
  4. Stay alert. Just like when driving, there can be a lot of distractions on a boat. Make sure your captain is aware of the surroundings and avoiding distractions.
  5. Steer clear of any large vessels or other watercraft that might be restricted in their ability to stop or turn.
  6. Follow a pre-departure checklist, which includes checking the horn, checking the lights, ensuring safety tools and spares are on board, topping off fuel and checking the oil, checking ventilation & the bilges, checking the battery and reviewing rules and documentation.

Labor Day Firework Displays

Labor Day Weekend just wouldn't be complete without watching some fireworks from your boat! Here's where you can catch the displays this weekend:

  • Bear Bottom Resort @ the 38 MM - Saturday at 9:45 PM
  • Bagnell Dam @ the 0 MM - Saturday at 9:00 PM
  • Inn at Grand Glaize @ the 1 MM of the Grand Glaize Arm - Sunday at 9:00 PM
  • Tan-Tar-A Resort @ the 26 MM - Sunday at Dusk
  • The Lodge of Four Seasons @ the 13 MM - 8:30 to 9:30 PM

Fun Facts About Powerboat Racing

With the largest unsanctioned offshore powerboat races in the U.S. happening this weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks, we thought it would be fun to gather up some fun facts about powerboat racing! Spout off some of these facts to your friends as you're checking out all the awesome powerboats at Supercat Fest and the Shootout this weekend.

Powerboat Racing Fun Facts

1. The first major powerboat race was in 1903 across the English Channel.

2. Powerboat racing was recognized as an official sport for the first time in 1904.

3. Organized by the American Power Boat Association, the Gold Cup started on the Hudson in 1904.

4. Up until the early 90s, only 4 types of boats were allowed into this sport. Today, powerboats of all types will be seen racing.

5. In the 1920s, racing boats adopted "planing hulls" for skimming across the water at high speeds, rather than the traditional deep v-shaped "displacement" hulls.

6. After World War II, hulls were made more and more from metals and fiberglass, as opposed to wood.

7. Most powerboats are driven by a high-speed jet of water as opposed to by a propeller screw.

8. In the past, a powerboat cockpit consisted of just a start, steering wheel and throttle. Today, the cockpit also features other controls such as a fuel pump switch, red and yellow warning lights and an airbag.

9. The rules of the F1 car racing championship are similar to the F1 power boat championship. The number of participating boats and racers, as well as the duration of the race are the same. However, F1 boats accelerate much faster than the fastest F1 race cars.

10. As of 2007, all powerboats are required to have a protective crash box installed. Other safety features added include shock-absorbent constructions and airbags.

11. In the 1990s, the concept of airbags in powerboats was launched. Not only do they protect the driver in the event of a crash, but they will also help delay the sinking of the vessel until help arrives.

Summerset Boat Lifts hopes you have a fun-filled weekend as the Lake of the Ozarks is overtaken by some of the fastest powerboats in the country! If you are in need of any Lake of the Ozarks boat lift repairs or service this weekend, give us a call at 573-348-5073. We're here for all your boat lift needs!

Join Us at Supercat Fest 2017!

Coinciding with the Annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is Supercat Fest! This is a gathering of the fastest, most exotic offshore marine hardware in the world. If you're a boat enthusiast, this is one event you will not want to miss. It's one of the coolest gatherings in the country! Ever year it gets bigger and better, featuring dozens of the latest and greatest go-fast catamarans and other offshore beauties. Join your favorite Lake of the Ozarks boat lift dealer at this event August 23-27!

Supercat Fest

Supercat Fest is a rather informal event, presenting an opportunity for a close-knit group of high-performance boaters to gather and enjoy the Lake. Many boaters start showing up on Wednesday, and the party rolls well into the weekend. Supercat Fest's "official" activities occur on Friday and Saturday night at Camden on the Lake. The festivities range from cocktail parties with live music to a fun run and fireworks displays. The event has always complimented the Shootout, specifically with the Stereo Shootout. This audio competition at Camden on the Lake offers another activity with more eye-candy and ear-candy than some of the other festivities. Supercat Fest is all about sharing in the common love of performance boating.

Associated Activities

Friday night is the Wet & Wild Pool Party at Camden on the Lake! Participate in the bikini contest or just enjoy a cocktail poolside. Check out all the amazing race boats while you're there! Dr. Zhivegas will be rocking the stage at H. Toad's Bar & Grill both Friday and Saturday night. In addition to the fun, this year's Shootout Benefit Live Auction will actually take place Saturday night at 8 pm at Camden on the Lake. The hope for this year's auction is to put a bigger emphasis on the fundraising part of this huge annual event. With all the generous sponsors and donations, the goal of once again breaking records in terms of the event's overall donations is within reach. For those who don't want to leave the resort, a big-screen viewing option will be available at Camden on the Lake this year. The large-format screen display will carry the live television broadcast from the two-day top-speed contest on he 3/4 mile course!

Our dock will be going up at Camden on the Lake on Monday - the helicopter will arrive Monday and the boat will be in the lift on Tuesday! Come out and see us at Supercat Fest 2017. Summerset Boat Lifts hopes you have a great time out on the water for these events! If you experience any problems with your lift after participating in the Supercat Fest or Shootout activities, give us a call at 573-348-5073. Insuring Your Boat Lift

The Lake of the Ozarks area offers some unique situations when it comes to insurance. If you own a home on the water with a dock, you need to make sure that dock is insured as well. Insurance can be complicated, so it's important that you work with a local agent to ensure you have the proper coverage for not only your dock, but also your Lake of the Ozarks boat lift.

Boat Insurance Policies

Just like with auto insurance, you need boat insurance. What exactly does that boat insurance include though? Unfortunately, your boat lift is not covered under most of your typical boat insurance policies. Those policies just cover the vessel itself. Think about it; your auto insurance doesn't cover your garage does it? So why would your boat dock or lift be any different. Typically you have to buy a premium policy or add coverage to insure your lift. Talk to a local insurance about your options. Your lift is an investment just like your boat and you want to make sure that investment is protected too!

Homeowners Insurance Policies

Many homeowners believe that their dock and lift are part of their property and their homeowners insurance should cover these items. Unfortunately, that's usually not the case. While homeowners insurance can sometimes extend to the dock, your insurance agent needs to be aware of the dock and value of that dock. When ensuring coverage for your dock, it's important that you not only have physical damage, but also liability. Docks can be a dangerous place if caution isn't taken, and you'll want to make sure you're covered if someone were to get hurt on your dock. As for the physical damage coverage, make sure you understand what circumstances are covered, wind, fire and snow all need to be considered. During the winter season, heavy snow storms have been known to severely damage or even collapse docks at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Protect your boat and protect your boat lift, not only with insurance, but also preventative maintenance. Summerset Boat Lifts is here to help with all your Lake of the Ozarks boat lift repair and maintenance needs. Give us a call at 573-348-5073 and be surprised at how fast you see a representative from our boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks out on your dock!

Knowing When Your Boat Dock Needs Replaced

In order for your lift to work properly and protect your boat, your dock needs to be in good shape. The Lake of the Ozarks boat lift has to be able to attach to your dock. Keep reading to learn about some signs that suggest your boat dock needs repaired or replaced.

1. Warped or Cracked Dock Supports.

Depending on the type of material that was used to build your dock, currents and waves can cause the structure to bend, warp or crack. In addition, ramming your boat into the dock while trying to dock it can also cause these issues. If the cracks are minor, you can likely just replace individual boards or beams. However, if load bearing areas are damaged, you'll want to have your dock replaced. This will ensure structural integrity. Your lift isn't going to be able to protect your boat from sinking if the entire dock falls apart.

2. Rusted Platforms and Dock Supports.

If you have a metal dock, you'll need to watch for rust. Due to the dock being in constant contact with water, there's bound to be a build-up of moisture, which can lead to rusted platforms and dock supports. If rust has overtaken the dock, you're likely way overdue for a dock replacement. If only small amounts of rust are found, you can try replacing those individual parts or pieces. If you're replacing your metal dock, you might consider investing in a dock of a higher quality material.

3. Wood Rot Spread Out On Dock.

While it's normal for your dock to experience a little rot over time, if the wood rot is not contained to a small area, it's probably time to replace your dock. Sometimes fungus from the lake water can cause dry rot, which causes wooden components of the dock to decay and crumble. This is normal wear and tear that all docks will experience. When there's only a small area of wood rot, you can likely just replace a board or two and your dock will be fine. However, if the rot has spread across the dock simultaneously, repairs can become expensive and replacing the dock might be a better option.

Not only do you want to keep any eye on your dock for necessary repairs, but it's also a good idea to regularly inspect your boat lift. 5 Reasons You Need a Boat Lift at the Lake of the Ozarks

Boat lifts are designed to both protect your boat and make your life easier. If you're not convinced you need a boat lift yet, check out these 5 reasons to invest in a lift from your premier boat lift dealer at the Lake of the Ozarks.

1. To Protect Your Boat From the Rough Summer Waters.

The Lake of the Ozarks has seen some pretty rough waters during the summer months when the boat traffic is high. A boat lift protects your boat from these rough waters by keeping it in place and away from the edges of your dock. Without a lift, your boat could be bouncing around in the slip, ramming into the dock and could even come loose and drift away.

2. To Reduce the Amount of Boat Maintenance Needed.

When your boat sits in water for long periods of time, algae can begin to build up on the bottom. Not only does this cause the need to clean your boat more often, but it can present other maintenance issues such as bottom painting. By storing your boat up out of the water, you can decrease the amount of maintenance your boat needs and also keep it from being damaged by floating debris, leading to repair costs.

3. To Prevent the Likelihood of Your Boat Sinking.

One major issue that we see occasionally on the Lake of the Ozarks is boats sinking. Most boats that sink, do so at their dock. From a dead battery to a failed bilge pump, it doesn't take something major like a boating accident to make a boat sink. A Lake of the Ozarks boat lift can give you peace of mind that your boat is protected

4. To Provide Easy Storage Throughout the Winter.

You can store you boat on your lift all year round. During the winter months, you don't have to find some dry storage place to keep your boat protected from the winter weather. The cost of renting a storage space can also be quite the expense.

5. To Make Launching Your Boat Easier.

When you store your boat on a lift rather than dry land, you decrease the amount of time needed to launch your boat. There's no more driving to the nearest launch site, getting your boat off the trailer and into the water and then finding a place to go park the trailer. You simply walk out to your dock, lower the lift and your boat is all ready to go!
