5 Common Lift Issues to Watch for This Summer

Your boat lift at the Lake of the Ozarks works hard every day -- even days you don't use it. While protecting your boat and keeping it up out of the water, your lift can wear down over time. As the best boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks, we're pointing out some of the common lift problems you should keep an eye on this summer.

1. Makes a New Sound when Lifting or Lowering

Your lift shouldn't make a lot of sounds while going up or down. Obviously, there's going to be some sound as the air is pumped into the tubes, but loud clanks or grinding sounds are a warning sign that something isn't moving like it should.

2. Signs of Wear on Cables

The cables on your lift do a lot of work. Over time, these may become worn or even rusty from being exposed to water. If you start to notice your cables aren't looking like they once did or not working like they use to, it's time to get your lift looked at to avoid a potentially damaging break down the road.

3. Parts Aren't Moving Smoothly

There are a number of reasons the parts on your lift may stop moving like they should. From debris in the water getting trapped in a moving part to joints wearing out, keep an eye on the moving parts of your lift to help prevent a more serious issue.

4. Structure Appears Damaged

If there is visible damage on your lift, it's time to call Summerset Boat Lifts! Our crew can quickly get on your dock and make needed repairs to help keep your boat, dock, and remainder of your lift safe.

5. Lack of Lift Control Response

When you switch your lift on, you expect it to immediately turn on. If there's a delay or the lift is working intermittently, there may be an issue with the wiring which should be addressed as soon as possible.

There are a number of potential issues that can arise with a boat lift at the Lake of the Ozarks and that's why Summerset Boat Lifts offers maintenance service. If you're starting to notice one of the above issues (or another lift problem that's not listed), it's time to call us and schedule your Lake of the Ozarks boat lift repair. We look forward to checking out your lift, making a timely repair, and getting you back out on the water in no time!
