Boating is a fun activity for the entire family to enjoy! From cruising down the lake to dining on the water to tubing in a cove, there are tons of ways to keep your entire family entertained on the water. Whether you have kids of your own or you're bringing friends out that have young ones, our boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks knows it's important to prepare with some tips for a successful day on the boat when kids are involved. Bring Plenty of Sunscreen

Children's skin is much more sensitive than adults. It's important that you have a high SPF sunscreen readily available for kiddos to use on your boat. And don't forget to apply sunscreen often. Ensure Life Jackets Fit Correctly

It's the law to have a lifejacket on board for every passenger on your boat. It's even more so important to know the laws regarding children and life jackets. Every child under the age of 13 is required to wear a lifejacket on a moving boat. Ensure your children passengers are abiding by the laws as the driver of the boat may be held responsible if they are not. Top 5 Spring Boating Safety Tips

Spring is here and boating season is upon us! Many have extra time on our hands due to recent regulations on social distancing. Summerset Boat Lifts knows there's no better place to distance yourself than your boat! Take the family out for a cruise or get away with a solo fishing trip, your boat can help you enjoy the great outdoors while keeping your distance from others. As more and more boats are out on the lake right now, our boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks is going to cover some boating safety tips.

1) Stock your Boat

Ensure your boat is ready for the season ahead. This involved making sure you have enough life jackets on board for all passengers. You also need to have boat registration, a throwable PFD, and a fire extinguisher on the vessel. Gather these items before you hit the water this spring!

2) Bring Clothing Layers

The temps may be warm but the feels-like temperature can drop once you're out on the boat moving. The cooler wind across the water and the boat moving can both cause the temperature to feel much cooler than it is. It's best to be prepared and pack some additional layers for your spring boating outing.

3) Check Weather

Missouri weather can change within minutes. It's best to check the forecast before dropping your lift and heading out on the lake. Safety Tips for Being Around Water in the Winter

Many people think about being out on the water when the suns out and the temps are high. There are some instances when you may find yourself near or on the water during the winter months, as well. While boating safety applies to year-round boating activities, there are a few extra precautions you should be aware of if you plan to be around the lake this winter. Whether you're checking on your boat, out for a cruise, or casting a line, there are a some safety tips that should be top of mind. May is National Water Safety Month and we're taking this time to go over some quick water safety tips. With boating season underway, more and more people will be spending time out on the water at the Lake of the Ozarks. As our boat lift company at the Lake of the Ozarks gears up for another season, it's important to refresh safety tips and keep them top of mind this summer.

1) Make sure you have enough life jackets on board for everyone. In addition, Missouri law states that children under the age of 8 are required to have a life jacket on at all times while boating.

2) Before you hit the water, check the weather forecast. You don't want to get caught out in the middle of the lake during a big storm.

3) Make sure that at least one person on board is familiar with all aspects of the boat's handling and operations. It's better if more than one person knows this as well, just in case the primary captain is injured or incapacitated in any way.

4) Be respectful of buoys and other navigational aids, all of which are there for your own personal safety and the safety of others on your boat.

4th of July at the Lake of the Ozarks

There's no better place to spend the 4th of July holiday than out on the water! From fun in the sun to fireworks at night, there's endless fun to be had at the Lake of the Ozarks over these holiday weekends. Keep reading to learn more about where you can view the 4th of July fireworks from the water, as well as some tips on how to stay safe on the Lake over the holiday.

4th of July Fireworks on the Water 

With the 4th of July falling on a Wednesday, you two weekends and a week in between to celebrate! If you're going to be out on the water over the holiday, be sure to check out these fun events:

Fireworks at the 1 Mile Marker of the Grand Glaize Arm - Saturday, June 30
The Inn at Grand Glaize will be shooting off fireworks at dusk on Saturday. They can be viewed from the water a the 1 mile marker of the Grand Glaize Arm.

Fireworks at the 38 Mile Marker - Saturday, June 30, Wednesday, July 4 and Saturday, July 7
Bear Bottom Resort is offering three different chances to see a spectacular fireworks show, both Saturdays and Wednesday the 4th too, at 9:45 pm each night! You can view them by water at the 38 mile marker of the Osage Arm.

Fireworks at the 45 Mile Marker - Saturday, June 30, Wednesday, July 4 and Saturday, July 7
Runaway II Resort & Campground will also be shooting off fireworks 3 different days over the upcoming holiday week. Each show will begin at 9:30 pm and can be viewed from the 45 mile marker.

Fireworks at the 34.5 Mile Marker - Tuesday, July 3 
Enjoy a fireworks display put on by Captain Ron's the night before the 4th of July, Tuesday at dusk. This fireworks show can be viewed by water at the 34.5 mile marker.

Fireworks at the 2 Mile Marker - Wednesday, July 4 
Point Randall Resort will be shooting off fireworks on the 4th of July from 9:15-10 PM. This display can be viewed from the water at the 2 Mile Marker, near McCoy Branch Cove.

Fireworks at the 13 Mile Marker - Wednesday, July 4 
Starting at dusk, the Lodge of Four Seasons annual 4th of July fireworks show will be visible at the 13 mile marker.

Fireworks at the 26 Mile Marker - Wednesday, July 4 
Tan-Tar-A Resort will also have their annual 4th of July fireworks display from 8:30-9:30 PM on Wednesday. This display can be viewed by water at the 26 mile marker.

Staying Safe on the Water

With the increased traffic on the water over the holiday, it's important that take actions to stay safe. Here's some tips to keep you safe and prevent problems on the water this holiday weekend/week.

1. Designate a Captain - We know you want to have fun for the holidays, but make sure you have a sober captain to get you home safely after a day of celebrating on the water. Just like with cars, drinking and driving a boat don't mix.

2. Bring Life Jackets - Make sure you have enough life jackets on board for everyone. The chance of a boating accident increases on busy holiday weekends, so make sure life jackets are accessible to all passengers. Children should be wearing them at all times while on a watercraft.
