3 Ways to Take Advantage of Lower Lake Levels

Each winter season, Ameren lowers the water levels of the Lake of the Ozarks in order to make room for the excess water from the heavy spring rains to come. At the beginning of April, Ameren will begin to raise the lake level again. The goal is to have the lake back to full pool by late May, just in time for boating season. Until then, waterfront property owners can take advantage of the lower lake levels to maintain their boat docks and boat lifts at the Lake of the Ozarks.

1. Get Your Dock Inspected.

When the water levels are low, it's much easier to check the dock for any issues. This is an excellent time to check the electric. Make sure your dock is well-grounded and that all the electrical connections are sound. Most electric companies at the Lake of the Ozarks offer free dock inspections. You want to make sure that your dock is safe before the upcoming boating and swimming season, when you and your family are regularly on the dock and in the water around the dock.

2. Conduct Any Necessary Repairs.

If your dock is in need of repair, now's the time to get those items checked off your list. Not only do you not want to be doing those items while everyone is enjoying the warm weather and time on the lake, but the docks are more accessible with the water levels down. Low lake levels create the perfect opportunity to install rip rap on your dock or repair the sea wall.

3. Schedule Boat Lift Service.

While you're getting your dock inspected, it's also a good idea to have your boat lift looked over. Now is the ideal time to contact Summerset Boat Lifts for all your boat lift service and maintenance needs, before business picks up for the season. Not only will it be easier to get an appointment this time of year, but you'll be ready to hit the water as soon as the weather warms up. Any damages can be prepared ahead of the start of boating season.

New Personal Watercraft Lifts

Whether you just got a personal watercraft for Christmas or you've had one for awhile and just never bought a lift for it, Summerset Boat Lifts has you covered! We offer 3 different types of PWC lifts at the Lake of the Ozarks to fit your needs:

Single Place PWC Lift

The flagship of our personal watercraft line of boat lifts, the poly tank front-mount unit is quite capable of withstanding any water conditions we might experience here at the Lake of the Ozarks. The single-tank, by design, will hold your machine higher out of the water than a two-tank system would. This means you WILL have dry feet when you want to maintain or cover your watercraft, GUARANTEED.

Double Place PWC Lift

Cruising around the Lake is always more fun with a buddy! If you have more than one PWC to lift, this is the way to go! The double-place personal watercraft lift is an extension of the ever popular single tank design. For considerable price savings over purchasing two singles, the double is the perfect solution. The double is also available with a full deck.

Sidemount PWC Lift

The side-mount mechanical personal watercraft lift is available for the homeowner with property line issues. It's a space-saver in that the footprint on the dock is only 5 1/2 feet instead of 11 feet. The capacity for this PWC lift is 920 lbs.

Whether you're in need of one of our personal watercraft lifts or a bigger lift, there's no better place to go than Summerset Boat Lifts! We pride ourselves in our service, and that's what sets us apart. We don't just sell you a lift, we sell you our service. Don't worry if you've never operated a lift, we'll have someone from our team on the dock showing you how it's done the first time you use your lift. Guide to Purchasing the Perfect Boat

Boating season is just around the corner. Whether you're thinking about buying a boat for the first time or you're looking to make an upgrade or change, this guide from the best Lake of the Ozarks boat lift company will help you through the boat buying process.

1. Determine the Type of Boat You Want to Buy.

With thousands of different boats to choose from, where do you start? Think about what you're planning to use the boat for. Do you want to take it fishing? Do you want to pull your children around on an inflatable tube? Do you want to enter it in racing competitions? The way in which you plan to use your boat will help you determine what type of boat you should buy. Then you can go from there to narrow it down to the style, model, etc.

2. Choose Between a New or Used Boat.

Just like with a vehicle, a boat is a big investment. Not only do you need to think about purchase price, but also insurance and maintenance costs. While a brand new boat may have a hefty price tag, you may not have to put quite as much into maintenance costs as you would on a used boat. If you do choose to buy used, don't just look at the price tag. Be sure to have the boat inspected and determine any initial repair and maintenance costs. Also take into consideration that new boats will come with a warranty, while used boats likely will not.

3. Attend a Boat Show.

If you are new to boat buying or just aren't sure where to start, a boat show can be a great experience for you. Here you are able to check out a variety of different boats all in one place. You can talk to the dealers, ask any questions you want and compare different models easily. While the internet is great for preliminary research, seeing the boats in person can give you a better idea of what you want and don't want.

4. Narrow Down Your Options.

Think about all the boats you've looked at; hopefully, you've started a list of boats that interest you. Now it's time to start another list, of what you want in a boat. Are there certain features you can't live without? How many people does your boat need to hold at one time? Split your list into needs and wants; this will help you check off boats from that first list that don't meet your criteria.

5. Take a Test Drive.

Once you've narrowed down your list, it's time to take some test drives. You know how you love the way a car looks, then you hop in the drivers seat and just don't like the way it drives? The same thing can happen with a boat. If possible, you'll want to test drive your boat before you actually buy it. The way a boat handles and the way it feels on the water are very important considerations.

6. Find the Right Dealer.

Once you've settled on what boat you'd like to purchase, make sure you get it from the right dealer. Be sure to find someone who's reputable in the community. Ask around for the best places to buy a boat, and read online reviews, not just about the boats, but about the dealers. Shop around for not only the best deal, but the best people you can find to work with, someone you can trust with such a big purchase.

Once you've found the perfect boat, you're going to need a boat lift to go with it! Trust none other than Summerset Boat Lifts for the best selections on the market. We are your premier boat lift dealer at the Lake of the Ozarks! Give us a call at 573-348-5073 to find a lift to match your needs.

3 Reasons to Invest in a Boat Lift Early in the Year

With this brutal weather we've been experiencing, your boat might be the furthest thing from your mind. However, now is the best time to be thinking about your boat and your boat lift. Boat show season kicked off last weekend with the Overland Park Boat Show and more shows are quickly approaching. Whether you're buying a new boat for the 2018 season and need a new lift for it or you don't have a lift for your current boat, Summerset Boat Lifts is here to hook you up!

1. Take Advantage of Great Deals.

Boat show season is the time of year where you can get great deals on everything related to boating. From the actual boat to the boat lift and accessories, companies want to gain your business this time of year before things start picking up for the season. If you're looking for the best value, now's the time to look at purchasing a lift. Our Lake of the Ozarks boat lift company offers everything from personal watercraft lifts to large cruiser lifts.

2. Be the First One on the Water.

When spring arrives, you want to be one of the first boats on the water! When you don't have a lift, you have to deal with dragging your boat to a launch site, getting it off the trailer, driving it over to your dock, and then getting it ready for a day out on the water. By having your boat on a lift, you can store your boat in the water during the off-season and when the warm weather arrives, you're ready to roll. You won't want to waste any time, so be prepared for spring by getting your lift now!

3. Get Quick Installation of Your Lift.

During the off-season, boat lift installers aren't nearly as busy as they will be when spring rolls around. Those people that haven't touch their lifts since last season will be calling for maintenance and service. Therefore, now is the best time for new installs if you want it done quickly. Get ahead of the game and schedule the installation of your lift by the professionals at Summerset Boat Lifts. Not only will we get you setup with an awesome Galva-Hoist boat lift, but we'll be on your dock showing you how to use it properly.

At Summerset, we pride ourselves on our customer service. We don't just sell you a lift, we sell you our service. Be the early bird and get your new boat lift today. Already have a lift? Often times we can modify it to fit your new boat. Give us a call at 573-348-5073 for all your Lake of the Ozarks boat lift needs!
